Kvarner bay is situated on the north parth of Adriatic Sea, with Rijeka as it's main town. Rijeka is very close to transport route that connects Croatia with other European countries. For example, coming from Vienna it takes only a few hours, so it is ideal holiday destination for short weekend as well as for extended family holidays. The entire region is dedicated to tourism and everyone can find plenty of interesting events and activities through the whole year.
Each season in Rijeka provides a particular kind of entertainment: sports, music, drama, gastro events... The most popular are International Carnival Parade, sailing regatta Fiumanka that takes place on the route from Rijeka to Omišalj and back, Rijeka Summer Nights when Rijeka's squares, streets and terraces become a theatre scene, street race "Homo si tec", The International Small Scenes Theatre Festival, etc.
Perhaps the most significant characteristic of the Kvarner Bay lies in the fact that in this relatively small area you can in just one day meet sea and mountain climate. In winter you can ski on the nearby ski resort Platak with unique view of the sea or, in a hot summer, you can find pleasant climate in forests and nearby mountains.

At mountain Učka, where people are making great effort to protect nature and wildlife, they are still attempt to maintain a former way of life, with households raising domestic animals and plants.
